DHAKA, Oct 31, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very much cordial and ready to sit for dialogues with all political parties in addition to Jatiya Oikyafront.

“Awami League President and incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is cordial about the dialogue. Besides Jatiya Oikyafront and Juktafront, she is keen to sit with other political parties too. Our premier will sit with those who will give proposals,” he said.

The minister made the remarks during a briefing after the ambassadors of France and Germany in Dhaka Marie-Annick Bourdin and Peter Fahrenholtz called on him at his secretariat today.

Quader said AL is not in favour of dialogue. “But, our leader Sheikh Hasina has decided, by dint of her political wisdom, to hold dialogues with the political parties. People of the country have appreciated it and the world community has also welcomed this initiative,” he added.

He said, “Time is a crucial matter here. If the election schedule is announced by the first week of November, then we will not get enough time.”

In response to a query about BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s verdict in two cases, Quader said, “It is a matter of the court and it is not right to relate this issue to dialogues. There is no connection between the dialogues and the legal matters. But there is no bar on discussing the matter in the dialogues.”

About the polls-time government, the ruling party leader said the present government will continue. But its activities will be limited. We will obey the rules of Election Commission.”
