Hong Kong, Shanghai stocks jump more than one percent
HONG KONG, Oct 31, 2018 (BSS/AFP) – Stocks in Hong Kong surged more than
one percent Wednesday following a strong lead from Wall Street, while
mainland investors brushed off data showing Chinese manufacturing activity
slowed in October.
The Hang Seng Index climbed 1.60 percent, or 394.16 points, to 24,979.69.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.35 percent, or 34.73
points, to 2,602.78, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks
on China’s second exchange, added 1.39 percent, or 17.77 points, to 1,294.22.
