Smuggled goods worth Tk 1.50 cr seized from Gobindaganj

RANGPUR, Oct 31, 2018 (BSS) – An anti-smuggling task force team seized smuggled goods worth Taka 1.50 crore from ‘Goleza Super Market’ in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha on Tuesday, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials said.

“Comprised of BGB, police and other officials, the task force team conducted drives at two godowns of ‘Wasim Cosmetics’ and ‘Haji Mossarraf Store’,” Commanding Officer (CO) of Rangpur 61 BGB Battalion Lt Colonel Md Shariful Islam told BSS today.

Jointly led by Lt Colonel Md Shariful Islam and Executive Magistrate of Gaibandha Beer Amir Hamza, 25 BGB members and seven police members took part in the daylong anti-smuggling drives of the task force team.

Sub-inspector of Gobindaganj Thana Dinesh Chandra and President of the Traders’ Association of ‘Goleza Super Market’ Mozammel Hossain, among others, were present.

During the raid, the task force team seized huge quantity of smuggled goods, including fire crackers, chocolate bombs, cosmetics, imitation ornaments and other goods, worth about Taka 1.50 crore in abandoned conditions from the godowns.

“We deposited the seized smuggled goods with the customs authorities today,” Lt Colonel Shariful added.
