RAJSHAHI, Oct 31, 2018 (BSS)- Speakers in a banking related review meeting
asked the branch managers of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) to speed up
its farmers-level lending activities for boosting agricultural production to
meet up the national food demand.

They said all the credit programmes of the bank should be need-oriented
and emphasis should be given on reaching banking services to the farmers’
doorsteps.

They were addressing a daylong performance evaluation meeting of all the
42 branch managers and others concerned in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj
districts of the bank held in Simante Obokash conference hall here Tuesday.

Director Kazi Alamgir spoke as special guests with General Manager
Khazamuddin Talukder.

Audit Officers Sana Ullah and Nur Islam also spoke.

The senior bankers laid stress on bringing all the existing potential
sectors and sub-sectors of agriculture and its processing under qualitative
and quantitative financing for making the country’s northwest region
economically vibrant.

They said the pro-farmers banking in the bank must be ensured for
cherished development of the region after the best use of its existing
natural resources.

Chief guest Nazrul Islam urged the branch managers to perform duties with
utmost sincerity and honesty to speed up the ongoing farmers-level lending
activities.

Quality banking and lending activities could be effective means of boosting
agricultural production to meet the gradually increasing food demand in the
country.

“So, there is no alternative to making all the credit programmes need-
oriented and time-befitting. Emphasis should be given on reaching banking
services to the farmers’ doorsteps collectively,” he said.
