DHAKA, Oct 30, 2018 (BSS) – Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Mustafa Jabbar today underscored the need for including Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in primary education to make the new generation skilled in technology.
“Programming contests for children are millstone for practicing information technology (IT) as programming develops talents and creativity. Children should be taught on programming from the childhood,” he said, addressing the prize giving ceremony of the National Children and Youth Programming Contest 2018.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division organized the function at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) auditorium at ICT Tower in the city’s Agargaon area, said an official release.
State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak addressed the function as the special guest with ICT Division Secretary Zuena Aziz in the chair.
Jabbar said, “Programming should be practiced from the childhood. Our children are so talented. So, we want to take them on such a stage, where they could learn programming since their early life’.
He urged the juveniles to grow up to cope with the forthcoming centuries.
“Today’s children are the future programmers. So, the government has set up 43,000 digital laboratories across the country and is implementing different programmes to build an IT-based nation,” the minister said.
BCC Executive Director Parthapratim Deb, Center for Research in Information (CRI) Executive Director Sabbir Bin Shams and BCC Director Enamul Haque addressed the function, among others.
