Swiss envoy meets Speaker
DHAKA, Dec 20, 2017 (BSS) – Newly appointed Swiss Ambassador in Dhaka
Rene Holestine met Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at the
latter’s office in the capital today.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest, a
handout said.
Acknowledging the Swiss cooperation in the development and progress of
Bangladesh, Dr Shirin Sharmin said Switzerland is a trusted friend and
development partner of Bangladesh and it has been supporting to the country
after its independence.
“The present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina is working relentlessly to ensure the country’s political and economic
emancipation dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said.
Rene Holestine said Bangladesh is a role model of women empowerment for
the developing countries.
They hoped that the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and
Switzerland would be strengthened in the days to come.
