KHULNA, Oct 29, 2018 (BSS) – Construction of Railway Bridge on Rupsha River
and Mongla-Khulna rail line is going on in full swing.
Out of total 65 km rail route, a total of 16 km rail line construction
from Khulna side and 23 km from Mongla side has already been completed,
The Khulna-Mongla Railway line project has been taken jointly by the
Bangladesh government and the Indian government after the Awami League
government returned to state power in 2009.
On December 21, 2010, Executive Committee of National Economic Council
(ECNEC) approved Khulna-Mongla Railway line construction project involving Tk
Executive Engineer of Railway Bridge project Abdur Rahim said after
completing pile design of Rupsha Bridge, construction of Khulna-Mongla
Railway Line resumed from both Khulna and Mongla sides on October last year.
Earlier, land requisition, survey, soil test and excavation were completed
while construction of Railway Bridge on Rupsha River began two years ago, he
said, adding that the Railway Bridge will connect one side with Putimari road
at the west bank of the river while other side with Rupsha road at its east

A total of 64.75 km broad-gauge line, 21.11 km loops, 4,413 km approach
road, 7.18 km railway bridge on Rupsha River and 8 railway stations will
build under the project.
Project Director of Khulna-Mongla Railway project Md Muzibur Rahman said
construction of Khulna-Mongla Railway line is one of the first track projects
of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
