Farashuddin for maintaining present pace of development

SYLHET, Oct 27, 2018 (BSS)-Former governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Dr Mohammad Farashuddin said Bangladesh has achieved a remarkable success in the past ten years and if this space of development continues, Bangladesh will be the world’s 26th economically prosperous country by 2030.

“The country has achieved a tremendous success in the past ten years and its position in all international development indices is ahead of many Asian countries,” said Frashuddin while speaking at a discussion here today.

The Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) organised the discussion “Review of the research paper on the investment of expatriates in Sylhet” with its president Khandker Sipar Ahmed in the chair.

Associate Professor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Dr Fazle Elahi Mohammad Faisal presented keynote speech while acting Vice Chancellor of Sylhet International University Prof Md Monir Uddin, pro-VC of Metropolitan University Prof Shib Prasad Sen, principal of Sylhet Government Women’s College Prof Mohammad Hayatul Islam Akanji and Vice President of SCCI Md Emdad Hossain, among others, took part in the discussion.

Dr Farashuddin termed the Sylhet region as an ideal place for investment and said that there is huge land and availability of gas and electricity for setting up industries in Sylhet. Construction of Sylhet-Chattogram highway is urgently needed, he added.
