JS passes NCTB Bill, 2018

SANGSAD BHABAN, Oct 25, 2018 (BSS) – The National Curriculum and Text-book Board (NCTB)Bill, 2018 was passed in the parliament with a view to making the law time-befitting and modern.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid moved the bill in the House which was unanimously
passed by voice votes with Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.

Designed in Bangla, the bill brings a few changes to the National Curriculum and Textbook
Board Ordinance 1983.

Of the major changes, the number of the board members has been increased from five to nine.
The eight separate businesses were defined for eight board members in the proposed law.

Besides, the authorities concerned will publish textbooks for small ethnic minority groups in their respective mother tongues as the matter is not there in the existing law.

The government will come up with digital and interactive books as this matter is also included in the proposed law.

Earlier, the bill was sent to the respective Parliamentary Standing Committee on October 22 in 2018 for further scrutinizing.
