Inu proposes 4 global accords in Geneva IGF

DHAKA, Dec 19, 2017 (BSS) -Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu placed a proposal for introduction of four global accords on the United Nation’s 12th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Geneva on Monday to keep the digital world safe and people-oriented.

After inauguration of the five-day forum, the information minister Hasanul Haque Inu proposed this in a keynote speech titled ‘Future Digital World Framework’, according to a message received here today.

In addition to the proposal of four agreements on safe cyberspace, the framework of the digital economy under the UN, the announcement of fundamental human rights to the Internet and the democratic management of the Internet under the UN, the minister also presented seven more action plans to ensure the Internet and sustainable development of the developing countries.

Seven plans include: Connecting digital connections, bringing content in mother language, reform of education system, more governmental initiatives to create digital structure, eliminating inter-country barriers to e-business, ensuring sustainable development digitization and affordable secure internet for everyone.

Over 1,500 people from different countries in the world are participating in the forum.

Ambassador and permanent representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations in Geneva Shameem Ahsan, Secretary General of Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum Mohammad Abdul Huq and Senior Information Officer of the Information ministry Mir Akram Uddin Ahmed are taking part in the conference.

The information minister will return home tomorrow.
