JS passes Bangladesh Shishu Academy Bill, 2018
SANGSAD BHABAN, Oct 24, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Shishu Academy Bill, 2018
passed in the Jatiya Sangsad in an amended form with a view to developing the
cultural, scientific and entertainment progremmes for the children.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Begum Meher Afroz Chumki
moved the bill in the House which was unanimously passed by voice votes with
Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair.
Placing the bill, the state minister said as per the section 6 of the
proposed act, the Bangladesh Shishu Academy will perform research and
publication including revealing the merit of the children in light of the
children right charter of the United Nations for developing the culture,
scientific entertainment and academic activities of the children.
The proposed act will replace the Bangladesh Shishu Academy (amendment)
Ordinance, 1977 and Bangladesh Shishu Academy (amendment) Ordinance, 1985,
she added.
The draft of the proposed act has created a provision of Director General
post replacing the post of director which was kept in the ordinance.
Earlier, the proposed Bangladesh Shishu Academy Bill, 2018 was placed in
the House on October 21, 2018 for providing report by the parliamentary
standing committee after further scrutinizing the bill.
