Yeafesh for building science-minded new generation

DHAKA, Dec 19, 2017 (BSS) – Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman today urged the teachers to groom the new generation as science-minded people and come forward to expand science education in the country.

“The teachers are the social leaders. So, teaching profession should not be considered only a way of earning money,” an official release quoted the minister as saying at a seminar at the National Science and Technology Museum (NSTM) auditorium in the city’s Agargaon area.

He urged the teachers to make their students science-minded so that Bangladesh can establish itself as a developed nation in the world, Yeafesh said.

The NSTM organized the seminar on “Initiatives of NSTM in Expanding Science Education and Responsibilities of the Educational Institutions” with its Director General Swapan Kumar Roy in the chair.

Science and Technology Ministry’s Secretary Md Anwar Hossain addressed the seminar as special guest while NSTM Senior Curator Md Badiar Rahman presented a keynote paper.

The present government is working relentlessly to develop and expand science education in the country, the minister said, adding that the common people are developing their living standard as well as the country making use of science and technology.

Referring to the country’s enormous successes in science oriented research and in the technology sector, Yeafesh said this has been possible due to the government’s time-befitting programmes.

“Now the country already has been transformed into a ‘Digital Bangladesh,” he added.

Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority Chairman Professor Naiyyum Choudhury and National Science and Technology Bhanan Construction Project Director Manjur Rahman were present in the seminar.
