Golam Mostafa MP laid to rest in Gaibandha

DHAKA, Dec 19, 2017 (BSS) – Golam Mostafa Ahmed, MP of Gaibandha-1
constituency, was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Chandipur
village under Sundarganj upazila of the district this evening.

Earlier, his third namaz-e-janaza was held at the playground of Chandipur
High School after Maghrib prayers.

His second janaza was held on premises of Central Eidgah in the district
town in the afternoon. Earlier, his body was taken to Gaibandha Shah Abdul
Hamid Stadium where the body was kept for a while.

Thousands of people from all walks of life, including political, social
and cultural personalities, joined the janazas and paid their last tributes
to the deceased leader.

Mostafa Ahmed’s first namaz-e-janaza was held at the South Plaza of Jatiya
Sangsad Bhaban in the afternoon.

Before the namaz-e-janaja, Mostafa’s only son Mehedi Mostafa Masum made a
brief speech seeking ‘dua’ from all for the eternal peace of the departed
soul.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and other
leaders of the Awami League placed wreaths at the coffin of Mostafa.

Military Secretary to the President Major General Sarwar Hossain paid
tribute at his coffin on behalf of the president.

Chief whip ASM Firoz, Commerce Minister Tofael Ahamed, opposition party
whip M Nurul Islam, ministers, whips, lawmakers, senior leaders of Awami
League and other political parties paid their last tributes to Golam Mustafa
by placing wreaths at his coffin.

Later, they took part a special munajat there.

Golam Mostafa, MP of Gaibandha-1 constituency (Sundarganj upazila), who
was injured in a road crash in Tangail on November 18, died at Combined
Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka this morning.

Golam Mostafa left behind a son, two daughters, host of relatives and
well-wishers to mourn his death.

President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker
Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, deputy speaker Fazle Rabbi, Awami League General
Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, LGRD and
Cooperative Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain and chief whip ASM Feroz, MP,
expressed their profound shock at the death of the lawmaker.

President M Abdul Hamid expressed deep shock at the death of Golam Mostafa
Ahmed.

In a condolence message, the President prayed for eternal peace of the
departed soul and also conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family
members.

In a condolence message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound
shock and grief at the death of Mostafa.

Recalling the contribution of the elderly leader in the politics, the
premier said Awami League has lost an honest leader in his death.

She also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed
profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

In another condolence message, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin said Golam Mostafa
was a politician who believed in the spirit of the country’s Liberation War
and played an important role in social welfare.

Golam Mostafa was elected MP on March 22 this year after the death of
former MP Manzurul Islam Liton.
