New alliance lacks tolerance, sacrifice: PM

SANGSAD BHABAN, Oct 24, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today advised the
newly-formed political alliance, the Jatiya Oikyafront, led by Dr Kamal Hossain to be more
restrained, saying that this alliance lacks tolerance and sacrifice that are needed while going to
work for the people.

“Tolerance and sacrifice are very much required while going to work for the people. But such
qualities have absent among the new alliance,” she said.

The Leader of the House made the remarks while replying to a supplementary raised by treasury
bench member Sagufta Yasmin Emily during her question answer session in the House.

“We’re watching anti-women attitude and listening to many things including abusive remarks
against the females from those who formed the alliance. I hope that they will be more restrained,”
she said.

Welcoming again the newly formed political alliance, the prime minister said she believes that the
foundation of democracy will be further strengthened through it.

“I welcome those who formed alliance politically and I think everybody has a right to do
politics,” she said.

“But the comments that the people are hearing from some of the leaders of the alliance have
proved that they cannot speak maintaining honour and dignity,” she said.

The Leader of the House said her government does not backtrack from facing the political
opponents politically.

“But if the people seek justice for unleashing terrorism and militancy and abuse of drugs or
hurling abusive remarks, it’s the responsibility of the state to try those involved in these crimes,”
she said.

“The state will try and is continuing it and the countrymen are observing it,” she said, adding the
government’s drive against militants will go on.
