Bangladesh Consulate General in NY celebrates 46th Victory Day
DHAKA, Dec 19, 2017 (BSS) – The 46th anniversary of the Great Victory Day
of Bangladesh was celebrated at the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New
York in a befitting manner on December 16.
The programmes included hoisting of the national flag with National Anthem
at the Chancery at 9:30 am on the day by Consul General of Bangladesh in New
York M Shameem Ahsan, ndc, a press release said here today.
Later, he read out the messages of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign
Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs on the occasion.
Besides, One minute silence was observed in memory of the valiant sons of
the soil who sacrificed their lives for the country.
A special prayer seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the
martyrs, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his
martyred family members and continued progress and prosperity of the country
was also organised.
Bangladesh Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations
(UN) Masud Bin Momen, Paterson City Mayor of New Jersey Jane E Williams-
Warren, Bangladeshi-American Councilman of Paterson City Shahin Khalique,
President of Bangladesh Awami League US chapter Dr Siddiqur Rahman and Dhaka
North City Corporation Panel Mayor Daisy Sarwar were present on the occasion,
among others.
Later, a cultural function was held at the auditorium of the consulate
general, the release added.
