DHAKA, Oct 21, 2018 (BSS)- Southpaw opener Imrul Kayes proved his worth as he scored his 3rd ODI century with responsible career best knock of 144 runs against visiting Zimbabwe in the first ODI of the three-match series at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur on Sunday.

When Bangladesh was losing wickets on a regular interval, the 31-year batsman, hailing from Kushtia district, led from the front to complete him third ODI hundred pushing a single to the leg side off Chatara’s delivery.

His glittering innings of 144 runs off 140 balls studded with 13 boundaries and six over boundaries came to an end in 48.4 overs as he gave a catch to Moor off Chatara’s delivery. His blistering century helped Bangladesh to post a fighting total of 271 for 8.

Kayes, who had his ODI debut against New Zealand in 2008 in Chittagong, also registered 15 half centuries to his name. His previous best in the format was 112 runs against England two years back.
