BSTI bill, 2018 places in Jatiya Sangsad

SANGSAD BHABAN, Oct 21, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Bill, 2018 was placed in the Jatiya Sangad in an amended form with a view to make the quality of the local products accepted in globally and also to make certificate by the international organizations easier for the Bangladeshi products.

Industries Minister Amir Hossen Amu today placed the bill in the House with Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Piloting the bill, the minister said the draft of the BSTI bill 2018 was approved finally in the cabinet through amending the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution Ordinance 1985 and the amended act in 2003, in order to make it time befitting.

Introducing the bill, he said the proposed bill will help to make the local products accepted in globally as well as it will exists comparatively in the local and foreign market.

At the same time, the law will help to take initiative for maintaining the quality of the imported products, he noted.

The minister urged the House to sent the bill to the concerned parliamentary standing committee for providing reports with two days.
