Sheikh Russell’s 54th birth anniversary observed in Ctg


CHATTOGRAM, Oct 18, 2018 (BSS) – The 54th birth anniversary of Sheikh
Russell, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman, was observed in the port city in a befitting manner.

Political parties and different socio-cultural organizations have chalked
out various programmes to mark the anniversary.

Chattogram City Awami League (AL) started the day’s programme with hoisting
of its party flag atop AL office at Darul Fazal Market this morning.

The city AL leaders and activists observed the day through placing wreaths
at the portrait of Sheikh Russell, cutting cakes and offering fateha for his
departed soul.

City AL also organized a discussion meeting at its AL office this afternoon
with its acting President Mahtab Uddin in the chair.

Leaders of the Chittagong city Chhatra League and Juba League placed
wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Russell.

Chattogram south district AL also arranged similar programmes and a
discussion at its Andarkillah office this afternoon with its President Moslem
Uddin Ahmed in the chair.

Chattogram north district AL also organized a discussion meeting at Dost
building party office today.

Sheikh Russell was born at Dhanmondi Bangabandhu Bhaban on October 18 in
1964. A class four student of Dhaka University Laboratory School, Russell was
brutally killed on August 15 in 1975 along with Bangabandhu and his other
family members.
