Speaker returns from Geneva after attending IPU assembly
DHAKA, Oct 18, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin
Sharmin Chaudhury today reached home here from Geneva, Switzerland after
taking part in the 139th assembly of Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Swiss parliament and IPU jointly organized the five day assembly on
October 14-18 at Geneva this year where more than 1,300 MPs from different
countries participated in assembly, said an official release here.
During her visit, the Speaker also paid a courtesy call on the Secretary
General of IPU Martin Chungong (Cameroon).
Speaker led a 17-member Bangladesh delegation in the 5-day session, it
also added.
High officials of Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat were present
at the Shahjalal International Airport to welcome the Speaker.
