Eat fruits daily for nutrition: experts

JAMALPUR, October 18, 2018 (BSS) – Experts at a workshop today said Bangladesh has already achieved self sufficiency in food grain production, but its people should change their food habit and eat fruits daily for nutrition.

They came up with the observation at a day-long workshop on ‘dissemination of promising horticultural technology of BARI varieties and agro-techniques’ held at the conference room of Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) here.

RARS organised the workshop under the project of ‘strengthening research on horticulture crops and dissemination of horticultural and field crop technology at Charland areas’.

Chaired by BARS chief scientific officer Dr Md Abdul Malek, the workshop was addressed, among others, by BARI chief scientific officer Dr Md Azmat Ullah, additional director of DAE (Mymenshingh) Md Asadullah and project director Dr Md Abu Taher.

A total of 100 people, including deputy directors of DAE, Horticulture and BADC, upazila agriculture officers of DAE, scientific officers of RARS, and NGO representatives of Jamalpur, Sherpur, Mymenshingh and Netrokona districts, took part in the workshop.
