RpMP commissioner seeks media cooperation for safe city

RANGPUR, Oct 17, 2018 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP)
Commissioner Md Abdul Alim Mahmud today sought cooperation of the mass media
to provide a safe Rangpur city free from terrorism, militancy and drugs.

“Works of journalists and police are of similar nature. Reporters disclose
irregularities, corruptions and crimes exposing masks of criminals. Police
take legal actions following the media information to counter crime and
maintain law and order,” he said.

Alim made these observations while addressing a views-sharing meeting
organised by RpMP at its conference room with representatives of different
journalists’ organisations of the city as the chief guest.

Highlighting historical brotherhood and friendly relation prevailing among
police and journalists for centuries, the RpMP commissioner put importance on
taking the society, state and nation ahead utilising the same bonding and
relation.

Referring to some ‘so called’ yellow journalists and police members, he
said, “The law of the land is always equal to everyone. As police work
following laws and rules concerned, journalists should also follow their
rules.”

Moderated by Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) of RpMP
Abdullah Al Faruk, Additional Police Commissioner (Additional DIG) Mohammad
Abu Sufian, Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) Mohidul Islam,
Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) Md Shahidullah Kawsar and
Assistant Police Commissioner (DB) Md Altab Hossain addressed the occasion.

Among journalists, Sadrul Alam Dulu, Rashid Babu, Rafique Sarkar, Abdur
Rahman Mintu, Nazrul Mridha, Sajjad Hossain Bappi, Mahbub Rahman Habu, Aftab
Hossain, Merina Lovely, Abdul Halim Ansari, Shah Bayezid Ahmed, Rafiqul Islam
Rafiq, Farhaduzzaman Faruk, Badsha Osmani, Swapan Chaudhury, SM Piyal, Saddam
Hussein spoke about the city’s law and order situation.
