RANGPUR, Oct 17, 2018 (BSS) – The mega concert ‘Shekorer Sondhane’ literally turned the metropolitan city into a colourful festive place entertaining over one lakh people, especially youths, on Zila School ground here on Tuesday night.
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs organised the first open air mega concert in Rangpur as a part of the nationwide programme in all divisional cities of the country to end with the final concert in the capital city.
The Gaan Bangla Television Ltd, one of the country’s most popular private sector satellite TV channel for music, telecasted the mega concert live from the venue from the evening till the midnight.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, briefly addressed the occasion before formally inaugurating the concert amid huge claps of the audience.
Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Joynul Bari, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Abdul Alim Mahmud, Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib, Police Super Mizanur Rahman, Acting President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi, its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, district Chhatra League President Mehede Hasan Rony, cultural personalities and artistes from home and abroad were present.
Popular artists Shiba Moni and Arsahd Khan from India, Enton and Anarakiva from Russia, Neeli and Anavire from Latvia, Sinan from Turkey, ‘Rhythms’, popular Bangladeshi artists Taposh, Aiyub Bachchu, Kona, Kuddus Boyati, Rinku, Oishee, Chistee bauwl, Jane Alam, Reshmi, Polok, Shamim and many others resdered different types of songs throbbing every heart of the dancing audience on the venue that turned into a human sea.
Dozens of local artists rendered dances in the concert focusing rich cultural heritage of the region and the country as a whole.
Talking to BSS on the concert venue, student of Begum Rokeya University Rafiul Islam said he was happy to enjoy the world standard songs, music and dances in the concert at his hometown.
He thanked the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking Bangladesh to a newer height of development and pride and expressed gratitude to the Cultural Affairs Minister for arranging the first mega concert in Rangpur.
Another student of the same university Asrhu Kona Roy suggested for arranging similar concerts across the country to entertain the youths with healthier cultural programmes for building a more enlightened and peaceful society.
