Maha Saptami celebrated in Ctg peacefully

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 16, 2018 (BSS)- Maha Saptami, the second day of five-day
long Sharadiya Durga Puja, is being celebrated today in the city as elsewhere
in the district with due festivity and traditional enthusiasm.

Tens of hundreds of the devotees of all ages including men, women, boys,
adolescents, girls and youths have been thronging at different puja mandaps
to offer their Saptami puja in the morning.

A good number of devotees from all walks of life visited the JM Sen Hall,
Ramkrishno Mission, Hazari Lane, Sadharghat Kalibari, Krishno Kumari,
Patharghat and Goashil Danga, which are the most attractive Puja mandaps in
the city, to perform their Saptami Puja.

The devotees participated in a cultural function at 4 pm today at the JM
Sen Hall premises and also took part in a discussion meeting.

The Puja mandap premises and adjoining areas have become overcrowded and
worn eye-catching looks with traditional fairs arranged where handicrafts
items, toys, household goods, sweets and other things are being sold.

Religious chorus and chanting of sacred Geeta were being performed
peacefully by the devotees at every puja mandaps, the Hindu community leaders
said.

Chattogram Metropolitan and district police and Puja committee sources
said there was no report of any untoward incident centering the puja
celebrations.

“A five-tire security measures has been taken during the Durga Puja, the
biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, festival so that the
religious carnival can be celebrated with the true spirit of festivity and
religious fervor,” they added.

Talking to the BSS, Chittagong Mohanagari Puja Udjapan Parishad (CKPUP)
Secretary Biprokas Das said they are satisfied for adequate arrangements and
support from the administration for peaceful celebration of the biggest
religious festival.
