Two neo-JMB members killed in Narsingdi anti-terror raid

NARSINGDI, Oct 16, 2018 (BSS) – Two suspected Neo-JMB members were
killed in explosion during a drive at a militant den in Shaikerchar area of
Narsingdi Sadar upazila this afternoon.

Police also recovered huge explosives and a pistol from the house
immediately after the operation. Local police sources said, teams of Counter
Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) along with local police started the
operation in the den of militants at about 11am.

Based on secret information, they cordoned off the four-storey house
owned by local businessman Billal Miah since Monday evening, where the
suspected militants took refuge.

Local administration imposed section 144 within 500 yards of the house
to avert any untoward incident. They also evacuated all the inmates of the
house before starting the crackdown.

Md Monirul Islam, Chief of the CTTC reached the spot and briefed the
media before starting the operation.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Jabed Patwary, Deputy Inspector
General (DIG) of Dhaka Range Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Deputy Commissioner
(DC) of Narsingdi Syeda Farhana Kawnine, Superintendent of Police (SP)
Saifullah Al Mamun and Civil Surgeon of Narsingdi Dr Helal Uddin also visited
the place of occurrence.

Briefing the media after winding up the operation, the CTTC cheif
claimed that two militants-one male and another female have been killed in
the operation named ‘Operation Gordian Knot’.

He said before starting the operation, police urged the militants over
microphone to surrender, but instead of surrendering, they started blasting
several bombs inside the house, he added.

Meanwhile, police have already cordoned off another house at Gangpar area
under Madhabdi upazila suspecting it as a hideout of militant outfit.
