Manju for joint efforts to face climate change impacts

DHAKA, Oct 16, 2018 (BSS) – Water Resources Minister Anwar Hossain Manju today urged all to work together to combat the harmful impacts of climate change.

“Changes are taking place in the world very fast. We have to work together with a positive approach to face the harmful impacts of the changes,” he said, addressing a seminar at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) at Mirpur Cantonment in the city.

BUP Environmental Science Department organized the seminar titled ‘Climate Change Concern: Bangladesh Perspective’ at Bijoy Auditorium on the campus, said an official release.

BUP Vice-Chancellor (VC) Major General Md Emdad-Ul-Bari and Pro-VC Prof M Abul Kashem Mozumder addressed the seminar as special guests.

Manju said the world is becoming unlivable gradually because of climate change.

Referring to different development activities of the present government, the minister said if the development pace under the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina continues, the country will reach a unique height in the next 10 years.

He urged the new generation to remain optimistic about the country.

Professor Emeritus of BRAC University Dr Ainun Nishat presented a keynote paper on ‘Adapting to climate change approaches, challenges and way forward: Bangladesh experience’ in the seminar.
