DHAKA, Oct 16, 2018 (BSS) – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Khan Md Nurul Huda today said disagreements among the election commissioners in terms of taking decisions would not affect conducting the upcoming national polls.

“I would not talk more about this. Though there might be disagreements among the election commissioners in terms of taking decisions, conducting the upcoming national polls would not be affected,” he said, replying a question from reporters on the note of dissent submitted by an election commissioner at a meeting of the Election Commission (EC) on Monday.

The CEC today joined a view-exchange meeting with regional and district election officials and senior polling officials at the EC office in capital’s Agargaon area.

Presided over by Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, the meeting was attended by Election Commissioners Mahbub Talukder, Md Rafikul Islam, Kavita Khanom, Brigadier General (Retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury and EC Additional Secretary Md Mokhlesur Rahman, among others.

“We would take initiative to bring some changes in the election code of conduct. We would discuss the matter in the next commission meeting,” the CEC said.
