23,598 Ansar-VDP members deployed at Rangpur Puja mandaps

RANGPUR, Oct 16, 2018 (BSS) – A total of 23,598 trained male and female
members of Ansar-VDP have been deployed at 5,264 Puja mandaps to ensure
peaceful celebrations of the five-day Durga Puja festival this year in all
eight districts under Rangpur division.

“Deployment of the members of Ansar-VDP has been completed to ensure
security and safety at the Puja mandaps from October 15 to 19 next,” a press
release issued here today by Rangpur Range Office of Ansar-VDP said.

Among the Puja mandaps erected in Rangpur city and at the district,
upazila and union levels of the division, 1,321 Puja mandaps are being
considered as more important, 1,438 as important and 2,505 others as common
in point of the security perspectives.

The authorities have deployed 6 and 4 trained members of male and female
Ansar-VDP in groups at each of these mandaps depending on importance and
security category to ensure safety with assistance of the police for peaceful
celebrations of the festival.

A Platoon Commander and an Assistant Platoon Commander are leading these
Ansar-VDP groups at every Puja mandap to ensure easy movement of the
devotees.

Of them, 726 Ansar-VDP members have been deployed at 166 Puja mandaps in
Rangpur Metropolitan city area, 3,278 members at 734 Puja mandaps in Rangpur,
2,716 members at 610 Puja mandaps in Gaibandha and 2,352 at 52 Puja Mandaps
in Kurigram districts.

Besides, 1,836 members of Ansar-VDP have been deployed at 432 Puja mandaps
in Lalmonirhat, 4,010 members at 854 Puja mandaps in Nilphamari, 5,400
members at 1,214 in Dinajpur, 2,040 members at 454 in Thakurgaon and 1,240
members at 275 Puja mandaps in Panchagarh districts.

“Director of Rangpur Range of Ansar-VDP Pabitra Kumar Saha has directed the
Deputy Director for Rangpur, District Commandants and Upazila Ansar-VDP
Officers to ensure proper monitoring of law and order round the clock at all
Puja mandaps,” the release said.

“Pabitra Kumar Saha also instructed all deployed members of Ansar-VDP at
th Puja mandaps to remain alert and conduct their duties round the clock with
maximum cautiousness to prevent any type of untoward situation,” the release
added.
