FARIDPUR, Oct 16, 2018 (BSS) – A mobile court here sentenced seven
fishermen to 15 days imprisonment each for defying ban on hilsha fish
catching.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in assistance with district
administration and fisheries department officials nabbed seven fishermen
conducting a drive on Padma river under Kotwali Police Station on Sunday
night while they were catching hilsha fish there, RAB -8’s captain Md.
Roichuddin said.
The team also recovered 60 kg of Hilsha fish and 50 thousands metres of
current net from their possession, he added.
Later the arrestees identified themselves as Md. Jamal, Md. Siddik, Md.
Rubel Jomadder, Moni Paul, Sorwar Hossain, Joynal Mondol, and Lalon Kha were
produced before the mobile court that awarded them the jail terms.
