None can defeat united AL in JS elections: Quader

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said if AL remains united no force can defeat the party in the forthcoming general election.

“If Awami League remains united, none could foil the victory of Bangabandhu-founded AL. Even if a 70-party alliance is formed against Awami League, defeating the party is not possible,” he said, addressing a rally before conducting mass contact programme in the city’s Jatrabari area ahead of the next parliamentary elections.

Speaking about the newly-floated Jatiya Oikya Front, Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said the people of the country have no faith on the front.

They (people) will not respond to their (Oikya Front leaders) calls, he added.

“The next general election will be challenging one,” Quader said, adding that conspiracies would be hatched both at home and abroad ahead of the election.

Referring to BNP’s seven points demand prior to election, the AL general secretary said their (BNP) seven point demands are a conspiracy to foil the elections. “They (BNP) themselves also know that none will accept such demands,” he added.

Quader urged the party leaders and activists to shun the party’s internal wrangling centering the upcoming elections. The party will not give nominations to those who have been indulged in extortion, misdeeds and misbehavior with people, he added.

Later, the minister, along with party leaders and workers, distributed leaflets among the people to highlight the government’s development activities and achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and alert the people about BNP-Jamaat’s acts of sabotage.
