GDP to increase by 2 percent due to Padma Bridge: Quader

MADARIPUR, Oct 13, 2018 (BSS)- Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul
Quader today said the GDP (Gross domestic product) will be increased by 1.50
to 2 percent after completion of the Padma Bridge.

“Not only people of the region but also people of the entire country will
be benefitted from the bridge… The GDP will be increased by 1.50 percent to
2 percent after completion of the Padma Bridge,” he told the reporters while
visiting the place of public rally at Kathalbari Ghat in Shivchar of the
district here.

Quader, also the general secretary, said the public rally of Awami League
has not been organized for elections. “This is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s
own place. It is one of her beloved places. We will win from here in the
polls,” he added.

Railways Minister Mujibul Haque, AL Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin
Nasim, MP, and local lawmaker Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury, among others, accompanied
him.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inspect the construction sites of the
much-awaited Padma Bridge at Mawa in Mushiganj, Janzira in Shariatpur and
Shibchar in Madaripur on Sunday to see for herself the progress of the mega
project.
