17,000 assistant teachers to be promoted to headmaster: Mostafizur

DHAKA, Oct 13, 2018 (BSS) – Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur
Rahman today said a total of 17,000 assistant teachers at primary education
level would be promoted to headmaster soon.

“As many as 17,000 teachers are performing their duties as headmaster at
primary schools. They will get promotion as head teachers,” he told a
reception function at Teachers-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU)
here, an official release said.

Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md Akram-Al-Hossain, Director General
of Directorate of Primary Education Dr Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal and President
of Bangladesh Primary Teachers Association Md Atiqur Rahman Atiq, among
others, addressed the function with joint secretary of Bangladesh Teachers
Association Md Abdul Haque in the chair.

Mostafizur laid emphasis on ensuring the quality of primary education to
ensure the standard of higher education.

Teachers have to play a vital role in improving quality of education as the
teachers’ role is mostly important to attain the expected target of
education, he said adding, the present government led by Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina nationalized nearly 26,000 non-government primary schools to
ensure universal access to education.
