The President also paid his tribute to Sayedul Hoque, a Liberation War organiser and a close political aide of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by placing wreath on his coffin.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the leader of the House, placed wreath on the coffin of her cabinet colleague subsequently.

Later, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Deputy Speaker M Fazley Rabbi Mia placed wreaths there.

After the namaj-e-janaza, a guard of honour was given to the late fisheries and livestock minister there.

President Hamid also offered a post-janaza munajat where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasaina, Speaker, deputy speaker, ministers, lawmakers, senior leaders of Awami League and other political parties, well-wishers, officials and parliament’s employees attended.

They sought eternal peace of the departed soul of Sayedul Hoque, who breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) early Saturday at the age of 75.
