14-party alliance expresses satisfaction over 21 August attack verdict

DHAKA, OCT 12, 2018, (BSS) – Leaders of 14-party alliance at a meeting here
today expressed satisfaction over 21 August grenade attack verdict that
sentenced 19 people to death and life imprisonment to another 19 people
including Tarique Rahman.

With Awami League Presidium Member and Spokesperson of 14-party alliance
Mohammed Nasim in the chair, the meeting also expressed gratitude to the
court for the verdict saying that justice has been established with the
judgment.

After the meeting Nasim briefed journalists about the meeting held at Awami
League central office in city’s Bangabandhu Avenue.

At the press conference, Nasim said the people of Bangladesh would
ultimately reject BNP in the next national election.

“With defeat in the next parliamentary election, BNP will be wiped out as
people of the country do not want the terrorists’ organisation anymore,” he
said.

Expressing satisfaction over 21 August 21 grenade attack case the minister
thanked court and said people of the country except BNP’s accomplices are
happy with the judgment.

“It has already been proved that BNP is a terrorists’ organisation with
terrorism and militancy activities of the party,” he added.

Nasim said BNP was in power when the grenade attack took place, but the
party did not take initiatives to start trial of the grenade attack case.

But people of the country always wanted trial of the case, he said, adding
finally, victims of the attack got justice for the courage of Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina.

Rashed Khan Menon, Prseident of Workers Party of Bangladesh, said BNP is a
terrorist party and it has already been proved with their different terrorist
activities.

BNP did use state mechanism to carry out the attack on Awami League rally
in city’s Bangabandhu Avenue on August 21, 2004 to eliminate the leadership
of Awami League which is a bad sign for politics, he added.

Forming alliance with BNP means forming coalition with terrorism and
militancy, he said, adding that the people of Bangladesh will ultimately
refuse BNP in the next national election.

The Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasod) President and Information
Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said BNP has not changed at all as it rejected
August 21 grenade attack verdict.

All political parties should cut relation with BNP, added Inu saying
political party which will make alliance with BNP will be considered as
treacherous.

Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, Bangladesh Jasod’s President
Sharif Nurul Ambia, Communist Kendra’s President Dr. Wajedul Islam Khan, AL
organizing secretaries – Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Ahmed Hossain and deputy
office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, were present at the press briefing.
