Chopper crashes in Rajshahi, passengers escape unhurt

RAJSHAHI, Oct 11, 2018 (BSS)- Five passengers and the pilot of a helicopter of Impress Aviation Limited escaped unhurt as it crashed soon after takeoff in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district today.

The passengers included Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Faridur Reza Sagar, noted singer Ferdous Ara and anchor Farzana Brownia.

Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Godagari Police Station told journalists that the helicopter S2 AHW crashed shortly after it took off at about 2:30pm.

Quoting local sources, the OC said the celebrities went to Anwara Fahim Ziauddin Pilot Girls’ High School to attend a programme of felicitation for outstanding girls ‘swarnakishory’ today.

As they were about to head back to Dhaka, the helicopter crashed moments after taking off from a nearby helipad and slammed back to the ground, he added.

They were all first taken to the office of Upazila Nirbahi Officer and then to Godagari Upazila Health Complex. The six will take a flight to return to Dhaka.
