Signal 3 for maritime ports as storm ‘Titli’ continues

DHAKA, Oct 11, 2018 (BSS) – The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar,Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal three as the severe cyclonic storm “Titli”, moved to North-Northwestwards and crossed Odisha-Andhra coast of India near Gopalpur in this morning.

“Titli now is lying over coastal Odisha of India … It is likely to move north-northwestwards further inland and weaken gradually by two days,” Ruhul Quddus, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department(BMD), told BSS this afternoon.

“Under the influence of this severe cyclonic storm, steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay, deep convection is taking places over the Bay and coastal area of Bangladesh,” said a met bulletin here.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places across the country, the bulletin added.
