Aman cultivation surpasses target in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, OCT 11, 2018 (BSS) – Farmers of the district are
expecting bumper yield of Aman paddy this year due to favorable weather and
availability of agri inputs.

Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE)
Narsingdi Latafat Hossain told BSS that a total of 42,180 hectares of land
have been brought under Aman cultivation against the target of 41,508
hectares.

He said the target fixed by the department has exceeded by 672
hectares as a good number of farmers have engaged their all out efforts to
make the current Aman farming successful.

The transplanted seedlings of Aman paddy have already grown well
and the paddy fields turned greenish. The growers are now busy to nurturing
the paddy fields with the hopes of getting desired production of the crops
this season.

The Deputy Director said Bangladesh Agriculture Development
Corporation distributed high quality Aman seeds to the farmers of the
district at fair price.

He said availability of fertilizers, insecticides and other
necessary agri-inputs has ensured smooth cultivation for farmers.

Beside, different state run commercial Bank disbursed agricultural
loan on easy term to the poor and marginal farmers.
